How partnerships pave startup ecosystems: a StartupAUS-UTS case study

Alex McCauley
StartupAUS

Abstract
Fireside chat with Alex McCauley, CEO StartupAUS

This session showcases a progressive, collaborative approach to building and supporting a thriving startup ecosystem. With the aim of supporting the tech community and accelerating the growth of Australian startups, StartupAUS, Australia’s national advocacy group for the startup ecosystem, has built a unique and mutually beneficial network of partners - led by Google and UTS. In conversation with Alex McCauley, founder and CEO of StartupAUS, Ann Schoefer, Deputy Director Partnerships and Engagement at UTS Innovation and Entrepreneurship, will explore what defines a successful cross-sector partnership that supports an emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem driving future economic growth. Partnerships are frequently perceived as just financial contributions, but to unravel the true value, a deep and meaningful relationship has a lot more to offer. Together we believe a strong homegrown tech sector is vital to future Australian jobs and wealth. But getting there will require a national imperative to create the right environment, with a supportive culture and more entrepreneurs with the right skills.
